There are those that DO and those that don't. Those that WILL and those that won't.
Then there are those who disrespect, cuz they refuse to become educated.
Respect is earned. Talk is cheap and so are you.
The new year brings a whole new meaning, watch and see. You may not like the results, but you'll gain a better understanding...maybe.

We have "1 More Meet" to do before the end of 2011! Garage Ink Powerlifting is hosting a powerlifting event at Vision Fitness. This Saturday, December the 17th at 10 am the lifting will be hot and heavy! What a way to end the year and break some PR's! Come on out to the Garage Ink Powerlifting event- "1 More Meet".
The event is sanctioned by the USAPL. Currently we may have 2-3 more spots available for lifters. Slots are limited to 15. If you are looking to get some new PR's, try out some new training, or get your first event under your belt, this event is for you. |

Congratulations! You just wrapped up your training cycle and competed in your contest. How did you do? Did you get your lifts in? Did you get any PR's? Did you have any problems or missed any lifts? How many trophies did you bring home? What lessons, if any did you learn from your contest?
OK, whats the next step? Do you have a plan to evaluate what you did? Most lifters come home and start right back training. I highly recommend to most of the lifters on our team to take a few days rest after they compete. |

Whats Next?
Its been a few days since I've posted a Blog. Lots of ideas have come and gone. Lots of issues to contemplate. Good events, bad events, great training, and some bad luck.
Well, I guess thats life! Life can introduce you to some people or some events that make you wonder; just whats the real reason for this? Sometimes you wonder if these are life's lessons on honesty, morels, patience, loyalty, understanding, or simply just to tick you off beyond belief.
With my temperament, I usually end up feeling like the later! |

I am going to start this Blog off with a question?
"What could you do, if you WERE NOT afraid?"
Start thinking about it. Do you say to yourself or even out loud; "Boy, I wish I could do that!" Or, do you think to yourself; "If only I could..."! Well then, what's holding you back from your next goal? What hurdle do you have to get over? Is it you?
Lifting heavy weights or even accomplishing day to day goals can be very mentally challenging. Some people have the physical gifts to move mountains, but lack the confidence to fold a piece of paper in half! |

"Building it up from the Bottom"
I always like to use the phrase; "We got to build a good foundation, before we can hang up the drapes"! I have shortened it over time to just, "Lets build a good foundation"! The phrase can be used in many ways and reference many issues in your training and in life. I have met so many folks that like to think that the gym is like a microwave. Lets put a minutes worth of work in and get instant results. Or, better yet; lets do Safety Bar Box Squats with chains and band suspended set up with 85% of our max weight when they either haven't even completed an adequate training session to find their based max in the first place or don't know how to attach the damn chains to the bar! |

"Athletes and Wannabe's" - CAUTION!!! I am gonna offend somebody here!!!!
Now, this subject has always bothered me since the day I have competed! There is always someone out there that basis their knowledge on the sport due to the fact that they have read something on the internet, knows some distant cousin half removed from a friend that they know who used to be a lifter and probably is stronger than me cause they "Heard" they lifted so much, or simply they think they are a lifter because they where some t-shirt in reference to powerlifting. |

Atmosphere and attitude. These two attributes to your training can make or break you. When we started in the Garage, my little 20x20 detached building, we didn't have any heat, no a/c, no mirrors. Thus, we didn't have any excuses! We didn't start out with ER Racks or Ivanko Plates or EFTs Bands or a GHR , or a Reverse Hyper. Hell we had to do our benches off a home made bench that I made the pad from products of Wal-Mart! The original guys took an oath that we would produce Elite results with whatever we had. |
